It's Raining

It's freezing rain today. We actually have a warm enough day to see rain, which is rare in winter out here. Nathaniel heard the rain on the window, and so he came up to me and said, "Mommy, remember you said that whenever it rains someone died?"

"What--I said that?" I asked him. I really don't remember saying that, but since people around the world are dying every minute, technically it's true. But still I don't know why I said it.

So I changed my thoughts, "I think that rain shows that God is crying for all the people who don't believe." I said.

Nathaniel (only six) says, "Maybe it's just frozen rain in the air coming down, Mom."

Oh. I never thought of that. :)

Why do kids have to spoil our thinking or lacking of thinking for answers? :) My older daughter (at the time approx. 23) asked during a war movie, "Dad, do they really stick the medals into the chests of the soldiers?"

I laughed, "No. Who told you that?"

Giving me "the look" she replied, "You did."

*oops* :)

I love the rain. It always reminds me that something is being washed clean, receiving nourishment, or being filled. It is so wonderful to me. It is like it symobolizes a new beginning.

btw.. kids remember the darndest things don't they?

Hi Darlene! Thanks for visiting my blog! Your post today was right on -- great analogies and something I've been pondering today. Thanks! And yes, I'm Canadian -- I was surprised to read that you're Canadian. Somehow I always think most stuff online is American! LOL I'm in Southern Ontario -- warmer than where you are I'm sure! It's -11C right now -- s/b down to -20 or so tonight. Brrrr. It has a feel a spring though -- the sun is warmer and the winds are calmer -- I know there's some spring under all this snow!! (somewhere!) D

It's like when you see a rainbow and it's God's reminder that he'll never flood the earth again. Or, it's Saint Patrick's Day and you're slightly drunk and you want to run forever towards the pot of gold at the end. Only the pot of gold is heaven, so you can't get it until you die.

I love the rain ... Last year it was a drought here in VA and I was so depressed -- sun is great but not every-live-long-day.

My spirit feels quiet and peaceful in the rain. I feel closer to God in the rain and the mist ... Oh, and I love puddle jumping!

Hi Darlene,
Thanks for adding my blog to your CWO blogroll. You look like a fun person to know, from your photos on this blog.
Re your post on freezing rain, my garden here in California would love some rain this month, but that's not likely in June.
