Simplicity
I've lost that loving feeling... If you've ever been there, you'll know the one I'm talking about. You scan through the pattern books, till you see the right one. The cute teenaged model is wearing a calico jumper--and you have to have it. You scan the isles for the right spool of thread, a bargain peice of fabric and some colorful buttons. You wonder if you should forego the zipper since you remember seeing one in mom's sewing basket, that you think might work.
You finally find the fabric you love, you check the price. Seeing that it's 30% off, you hold the roll close to your chest and make your way to the cutting table.
I forgot that feeling til just this morning, when an image triggered my memories. I wonder when my daughter will sew her first apron or tote bag. I hope to share that experience with her, and fall in love with the simplicity of it, all over again.

:) oh -- i know what you mean. i am in the midst of sewing a patchwork blanket. i nearly "lost that loving feeling" when i ran into a snag last week....but i think i managed to find it again.
happy sewing
Aww! My poor mother tried to instill that loving feeling in me, but I just never got the hang of sewing. I'm one of those people who has a bazillion craft projects halfway done and never finishes them. I get bored before completion. :(
I'm sure your daughter is nothing like me! :)
I've never scanned the aisle for the right spool of thread- but I totally admire those who do!!
Have fun,
Sue
I used to dream about sewing my own clothing and various things for my family -- even bought myself a fancy sewing machine -- but then reality kicked in and I had to admit the only thing I was really capable of sewing was a hem...
pslove sewing too - though don't do enough of it. (The last thing I made was formed baby diapers). You'll have to show us a pic when it's done! :)
Oh. my oldest wants a sewing machine for Christmas...I tried, once...and it was a disaster and I turned my attention to paper instead...
I have the same feeling...the perfect paper is like meeting an old friend!!
I will try again..with her..I have to learn to thread that bobbin all over again!!:)
peace,
lori
Doing things with our daughters is always such a treat and blessing. I don't sew well but I love watching my girls try new things. Hugs!

Darlene,

I posted several weeks ago on discipline...not always fun, but necessary in our Spiritual Race...It keeps coming up in my life over and over again...The Spiritual Discipline I am working on in this season is Stillness...we NEED those disciplines to 'run the race' for HIM and run it with endurance!
Great article!!
Thanks for being such a blessing!
peace.
THANK YOU, Darlene, for helping me!
I must admit that I can relate to Valleygirl, I have a very nice sewing machine that was given to me by my cousin. But, I cannot sew anything, not even a hem. I thought that I would start when she gave it to me, but can't ever seem to get started!
that sounds so cool! i never really got into sewing much, but you make it sound like fun!
