8 Random Facts About My Marriage
Mrs. Diamond tagged me with a meme, which is to list 8 random things about my marriage. Oooh--fun!
1. Michael and I eloped. A guy that I worked with conducted the ceremony. I wasn't even aware that he was a pastor since he worked full time at the dental lab I was at, but someone pulled him out of the lunch line and paired us together. We really wanted to elope, so we preferred to quietly keep it away from our home churches.
2. I officially met my husband on Valentine's day when I sang at his church.
3. I unoffically met him about three years earlier when he was dating a girl that I worked with. It was more like a brief nod at that time.
4. This year is our 19th year of marriage.
5. We were so broke in the early years that we borrowed the money for our wedding rings. They are simple gold bands, and I wouldn't trade mine for anything.
6. Both of our moms were playing Bingo while we were saying our "I Do's"
7. We've never gone on a honeymoon, in fact we don't travel much at all.
8. Michael is a procrastinating thinker who doesn't take a step until all of the angles are considered, and I'm a fly by the seat of my pants/take a chance kind of girl.
I'm going to tag...Paula, Val, Iris, Gen, and Laurel

I hope my kids elope.
that is so fun that you eloped. and that your mama's were playing BINGO when you got married.
:)
So sweet!
We might as well have eloped. We asked our pastor if we could have a wedding ceremony at the end of our church service! We didn't tell anyone except our families. Whoever showed up at church that day were the guests!
I loved your facts, although I hope my girls DON'T elope. Even though it will be *expensive* to get them hitched, I still want to be there watching them make their vows. Perhaps it has to do with the fact that my mom wasn't at my wedding. Anyway - thanks for the tag, I'll get to it today!
I just responded! I love you and Michael, you're my kind of people!
interesting post thanks for sharing
My son juste eloped...I hope he has as many good years of marriage as you've had!
:)
If you're the 'fly by the seat' and he's the 'procrastinator' it must have been your idea to elope. That's so great! Congrats on 19 years of wedded bliss!
Big White Hat's comment is pretty good.
I haven't been here in a while, and remembered you while visiting Paula's.
Take care.
I think eloping is romantic.
Those are very interesting facts, Darlene. Was hubby captivated by your voice when you sang, or was it your beauty...or both?
Shelley,
I asked him, and after he stopped laughing he said "both."
Whew!!
Girl - that is so cute the you have eloped :) - Too funny that your moms played bingo while you got married. Was your family upset when you told them?
It sounds like you are perfect for each other :)
Thank you so much for sharing. I try to do the meme by next week - I hope...There is just so much going on right now *sigh*...
One of our daughters plans to marry this Fall. They plan to be married by the captain of a docked cruise ship and once the guests leave, to sail away into the sunset...
As the father of the bride, sick of hearing wedding plans, all I can say is, "Good riddance"!
That's so neat! Jeff and I eloped as well....been married 25 years now! God is good!!!
John, I don't think you really mean that!
Eloping runs in our family, with four couples choosing the ladder outside the window rather than the church wedding, but Kathy and I played it straight.
Maybe weddings are like funerals---they are not for the couple, but for the parents and guests.
I eloped as well......that had its good side and its negatives as well...however...I LOVE the fact that your mother's were playing bingo at the time of your life when you were taking the biggest gamble ever!!!
Fun learning more about you, Darlene. God bless.
Thanks for sharing about your marriage and all. We never had a honeymoon either unless you call skiing while you are pregnant a few years later!
God Bless!
Wow, this was too fun. I'm really surprised by the eloping. Did your moms forgive you??
Darlene,
Just lovely. Your random thoughts were delightful and filled with love. NEAT!
