Evan Almighty
Last night Brendan (my 15 year old) and I went to Evan Almighty. I loved it! I struggle with the idea of a man playing the role of God for some reason. Perhaps it's because I've got this vision of God wearing long robes and a flowing white beard. Truth is, I don't know what God looks like, so aside from that, I thought the movie was awesome.
Basically it was a modern day Noah's Ark, it was about a man's faith being tested even when he was ridiculed and the world was against him. It was less offensive than Bruce Almighty, and it had some great visuals, so families of all ages would enjoy it.
Turns out that it was cheap night at the good theatres. We got a movie and popcorn and drink for $8.25. Bonus!!
On a totally different topic...I joined Face Book this week. I joined about two months ago, and asked myself, what is this? It didn't seem to be too interesting, so I quit. In the meantime, everyone has been talking about it. It's booming like blogging did way back in the day. All of the moms at school were talking about it, and everyone in my family is on from the young to the old. So I took another kick at the can and joined again!
Basically it's like blogging without the posts--and a yearbook with comments. I was able to set up a group for CWO on there as well as a page of my own. If you don't join, you don't see all of the stuff that those who are members can see. In essence, you can't read the comments that they leave on "the wall"
If you want to see what it's all about, you can easily join facebook here: www.facebook.com My page can be searched there by my name "Darlene Schacht"

Dear Darlene,
I had a rough and hilarious day the other day with a friend and her many kids and thought of your post and how I can relate...like to Dora etc. Jut thought I would give you a laugh if you think you have had a rough day come on over and read...LOL Hope it is ok I linked to you in my sidebar.
Love the idea and will have to check it out.
Congratulations on winning the award from Crystal :) Just wanted you to know you and CWO touch more people them you will ever know. When people are new to blogging etc and ask I send them over to check it out like I did when I started.
Have a great day.
Angel ( Angel Mama )
i know!!! E-V-E-R-Y-O-N-E seems to be a facebooker. i have received about a gzillion million invites. so far i have been able to hold out and not join the fun fad. only on a technicality though -- i tried and somehow mussed it up!
have a great day!
Gotta love cheap nights at the theatre!
Jeremy and I were joking the other day that facebook is going to make high school reunions a thing of the past. I'm amazed at how many old friends I am now in contact with...and how many new friends I've made. And how much time I'm spending on the computer...LOL
Hey there Darlene...I totally get the same feeling with blogging...that I will miss something or I will lose readers when I don't blog.....but.....I am getting better with that and am learning to shut it down...but now with the facebook thing I will have a whole new can of worms to deal with....but I agree with Angel..the influence of CWO is huge......and it will be huge on facebook too....
Thanks for always being inspiring(yes I am at work again...LOL)
Facebook! You are quite the young hipster, aren't you? We tell our students to watch out what they post in Facebook because employers will look them up in there. Descriptions of drunken parties do not go over too well with prospective employers. (So watch out, Darlene!)
I've heard good things about that movie. Guess I'll have to go see it!
Hey, we just came back from "Evan Almighty", and loved it, too. It sounds like you're enjoying your summer, and so are we.
Love the new edition of CWO, too!!!
Wow, what a great price for the movies. I am glad that you and Brendan had a 'date-night'...
Thank you for inviting me to facebook.
Thank you Darlene.
I haven't seen the movie yet but look forward to seeing it.
Thanks for the info on facebook. I'm sure it'll become another addiction LOL
Trying to broaden my horizons and joined MySpace while back. Technically, I joined to keep track of my young adult children. When they travel the globe and I don't hear from them for a spell...I check to see the last time they logged in on MySpace and then I rest easy. I've put your blog in my favorites. Nice to meet ya.
we LOVED Evan Almighty and are always excited about movies that promote "God awareness" to the unknowing
