All Decked Out
We're getting a deck built at the back of our house, and it should be finished by Saturday if the weather continues to be warm. I'm funny about things like renovations, in fact I'm just like a little kid. I can't wait to stand on the deck. That's all I want. Right now we have the posts and the beams in place, but as soon as the decking starts going on, I want to stand on it and survey the neighbourhood. :)
It's quite high, so if you live in Japan, I just might see the roof of your house. lol.
We decided to keep the deck high because our patio doors are up at about 4 feet. So the stairs take up so much room. The deck will be 23 feet long, and 12 feet wide, with half of it bowing out to 15 feet.
My husband has fancy smancy scanners at work because he's a printer, but I don't have a single scanner at home, so I can't scan the plans for you. :( You'll just have to imagine, ok?
We have white pvc railing all around which I think will look nice around the part that juts out. and on one side we have a 10 x 10 pergola that will sit ontop, where we'll dine underneath. We've been really working in the yard this year.
I have yet to get photos for you--perhaps Michael will take some on the weekend.

That will be nice once you have your deck done. Nice to have for in the mornings to have coffee/tea and lounge around during summer. Would like to see pictures.
If you need a friend I am here, just give me a call/email. I feel the same as you did, some days.
You need to put up some pictures. As much as I love you, I aint up for reading a thousand words.
Amen to putting up the finished product with all your flowers aglow!
I love outside projects....I love the "afterward feeling". The aahhh!
I LOVE pergolas! The dining out sounds fun!
Ok is it bad that I am excited that I can finally get to your blog? I am imagining your new deck....I think it will look so cool and maybe someday I'll get to sit on it with you and shoot the breeze! :o))
Blessings
Having played carpenter for one season, my one claim to fame is a one thousand square foot cedar deck. Shoot, that was bigger than any apartment and one home I lived in. :)
I hope . . . er, know you will enjoy the new deck. Makes me wish I had one. *sigh*
cool a deck :)
look forward to seeing some photos :)
You'll have to get yourself a new "Lord(ess) of the Manor" outfit to wear as you stand outside - surverying your kingdom!
Oh - that sounds so nice :) - I hope that you will get Michael to take some photos for us to see...
I hope you are doing well this morning.
Blessings to you and yours.
When I was a kid, we had a deck out in our backyard! It was a deck/playground. You climbed up the stairs to the deck (which my sister and I transformed into MANY things...school houses, ranches, castles, etc.) then you could go across monkey bars to the slide. It was very cool! My dad built it for us. I hope your family builds many precious memories around that deck as mine has!
How fun for you!!! When we put the deck on the back of our I felt like a queen...ours is also up about 4 ft from the ground, it is fun to just walk out the door and survey all that is around! Of course it didn't end there...new deck, new landscaping, new this new that...it never stops!
