Snap Preview Anywhere? Uh...no.

I'm not much of a ranter, but here goes...

After receiving a letter from a concerned blogger tonight, I spent the past hour looking at the CWO blogroll, appalled at my findings. Tracey from www.show-me-state-of-mind.blogspot.com informed me that Snap Preview had labelled her blog to read "athiest" and others "pro-choice." Thinking this must have been gathered from key words on her site, I searched blogger at her site and couldn't find it. So, this got me thinking, and so I hovered over a few of the others. Sure, words like Christian, Mom, and Bible, religious showed up, but more often than I'd like to see, Tyra Banks Fat, Nudity, and Sex Scenes, adorned what I once thought were snazzy little snap previews.

Apparently my good friends over at "Laced with Grace" are labelled as "Religious Drivel." Uh...not so!

What really got my goat is the fact that if you click on a word like Playboy, you're taken to a search engine with a featured Snap Preview. I can only imagine the other previews I might have been led to had a clicked "Pro-choice." I understand the need for advertisements, and could understand related key words popping up. But when "Tyra Banks Fat" "Nudity" and "Playboy" keep appearing on an all Christian Blogroll, it's obvious that something other than a keyword search is taking place.

I could probably do a search to find out how to remove the keywords and clean up the boxes somehow, and while I'm at it, I could also dig through the trash in hopes of finding a snack--no thanks.

Religious Drivel and porn ads are enough for me to throw in the towel and say, you can keep your little Snap Previews, I'd rather take my chances.

To be honest with you, I had to look up the word *drivel*...Okay, so we might not be very sophisticated, but that it really not true. So sad that LWG is labeled like that. Thank you standing up for was is right.

Blessings my sweet friend...

Being raised a missionary's kid and now being married to a minister, the last thing I want my blog to say is "atheist"!!!

Thanks, Darlene, for taking care of this! You are the best! Even at the VERY LATE hours of the evening!!!

Hi Darlene,

I've had a similar problem with my postings. (Remember "pool boy in black socks"?)

I leave such odd links alone because I fugure that people searching along these lines need to be exposed to my weak Gospel testimony as much as anyone else.

So I'd let the reviews stand. Who knows what needy person will stumble across something good? And God can correct any misunderstanding.

Well to be honest I have never notice the words before but it is a little scary...I mean who puts those words and gives them those titles?

This really bothered me, deep into the night. It's upsetting to know how many people there are in this world who are disgusted by anyone who proclaims the name of Jesus.

I had to remember what Jesus said about the fact that when people are harsh and rude and hateful, it's not you they aren't accepting, it's the Lord Himself. If it hurts me, I wonder how it makes God feel? He is so patient with us as a people. Thank you for taking care of it Darlene.

I knew there was a reason I stopped using Snap Preview (although I didn't notice any of these labels. I probably wasn't patient enough. Thanks for sharing this so others will not use it either.

Blessings.

Just a (well-informed) hunch here, but I'd bet SnapShot works a bit like YouTube, with users being able to add "tags" to various sites. Given such an opportunity, there are those who simply can't control their baser impulses to slander all things Christian. Thus, all those derogatory--and clearly false--tags on your blogroll mates' sites.

If I were you, I'd simply remove the SnapShot code from CWO's template.

Lame. However- maybe it's a good thing when someone ends up at my blog or LWG expecting to find porn..athiesim etc. They are sure
to find something entirely different...

like maybe,drivel? ;)

Anyway, I never noticed tags before thnx for pointing it out.

Well- and thanks for saying we're not posting drivel...over at LWG..

Drool and dribbles in context-
on occasion- but never drivel!

Hi Darlene,
Over the last year or so I've watched your CWO growing and am so pleased to see how it has caught on. Hold tightly on to those reigns! This is the kind of thing that will cause you to prosper! Every blessing!
