Dr. Phil is not an MD

I love talk shows as much as the next housewife, but I do get discouraged when I see people like Oprah wearing the hat of a therapist, or Dr. Phil that of a medical doctor. The hair stands up on the back of my neck when they incorporate pop culture views into Christianity, but when it comes to medical issues it goes way over my head because I don't have the foggiest notion if what they're saying is correct. We're fed things and we accept them as truth because after all, "Oprah is famous, and Dr. Phil is a doctor."

My friend Val at I am My kids Mom addresses this on her blog today. She's upset, and rightly so, due to the ignorant statements of a recent episode on Dr. Phil. This time he hit too close to home for Val.

I encourage you to read her post:

Dr. Phil is not an MD

Thanks Darlene, for the info. I've never put any stock in what Dr. Phil says. Most of his advice is not godly!

I'm headed over there to read her blog now.

Blessings to you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ!

Went to my kid's mom's blog and left this comment:

Given that Dr. Phil got his "start" on Oprah, one might well expect his perspective to be more "pop" than "professional."

I, too, yelled at him when I heard him make the comment...and I almost NEVER watch the show. Just happened by that day.

Thanks for the heads-up, Darlene. I visited Val and left a comment.

It really steams me when I hear things like this. Our culture practically worships Dr.Phil & Oprah, but they've gone too far. Did you know that Dr.Phil's wife tours with the Women of Faith conferences across the country nowadays? Last time I checked Dr. Phil's website, there was no mention of Jesus Christ or either of their personal testimonies. These are the times we live in....

Blessings to you,
V.

When he did the hackjob of a show about homeschooling I quit watching permanently. I never did watch much, just here and there. I've seen him go from good to bad to ugly over the past few years (sorta like Oprah, hmmm).

I just left a comment over at "My Kid's Mom's" blog. Made me all made at Dr. Phil all over again. I know someone who died of Lupus. Shame on him.
