Goody Two Shoes
Argh--that goody two shoes! My teenager is a good kid. The problem is I'm not, so once in a while we have our little clash.
Today I was dropping my kids off down the street. Literally it was about 12 houses away. We were in the car because we had just come from the school. I dropped the kids off, and returned to the car, but didn't click on the belt--after all, home was only half a block away.
"Did you know that 70% of accidents happen within 5 miles of home?" He asks, trying to talk above the beep of the warning alarm. Oh, did I mention that goody-two-shoes is also a brainiac?
"Uh, I'm just a block away." I said turning into the driveway.
"That's what they all say," He answers shaking his head, "then BANG--the worms crawl in, the worms crawl out..."
A little vivid, but I got the picture. Argh!

Omigoodness! Guess you'll always be wearing your seatbelt no matter how far from home you are. ;)
Thank you for leaving a post today.
Now, about seat belts. He's right of course, so do it. If nothing else, you're setting a good example.
Purely for the sake of avoiding the worms - wear your seatbelt.
Ouch - that much have hurt. Especially the worm part - yikes.
But do have a agree with him - no matter how far you go, please put on your belt...
Blessings on your day and always.
I had to laugh at this one, my wise youngest son blurted out the other day, "I told Grandpa when we were driving, that the speed limit was 35 and you were going 40!". I look at him, amazed.
In my head I was laughing because I am sure Grandpa then put his foot on the brake to make sure HE was going the speed limit. ha!!
"My teenager is a good kid. The problem is I'm not, so once in a while we have our little clash."
LOLing about the seatbelts, but I could've stopped with the above sentence. THANK YOU!! This would be me and my teenager, too.
Great post!
Pretty humbling when your kid is the one whose teaching *you*! Believe me, I've been there.:)
That's funny. Yes, I have the same feelings sometimes.
My daughter has been a little more rebellious (like me!!) and we've had our moments, but my son has inherited his father's holier than thou attitiude, so we'll see how this pans out!! He will turn 14 this year, so things may change...but to be honest, I hope not.
If he can stay out of trouble and still feel good about himself these days, that's a good thing. Peer pressure is the worst. But he's pretty strong willed too!!
That is really funny,Darlene!!! It sounds like you need to listen to your wise son!

Kids certainly love to put us in our place at times, don't they?!
By any chance is he taking drivers ed (I can't remember how old he is). All I know is now that my oldest is a driver, she's correcting my driving every chance she can!
Hey, that's my boy. You go Brendan. I like to think I had some doing in his great upbringing. After all, I helped shaped those early years when babysitting. Hee Hee.
Hey, Do you think I am trying to steal your thunder???
cute post! Sounds to me like he's one smart cookie! Besides, if you've got snow like we've got it in Sask. lol 5 miles is a longggggg icey way!!! lol
Okay, where did ya get the kid? Was he dropped off by a UFO or something? Sounds like a nice case study. :)
I like people like him. He kinda reminds me of . . . ah . . . you! :)
God bless.
Ewwww! Worms! Now I have another teaching tool to use for my husband--who has to be reminded regularly to put his seat belt on! Something about not wanting to crunch up his shirt--Geesh--like flying through a car window isn't going to make a mess of your dress shirt!
